Fiona Apple
We’ll start with an album that will be on the weekend, at least one would have to listen to. It has been almost 8 years since the last studio album by Fiona Apple was released, but now they are back with a brilliant Fetch the Bolt Cutters. In previous albums, even though each piece of the classics, but this one might just be able to grow to be its very best. In the us, it doesn’t speak to Apple this weekend, on repeat.
Tom Misch & Yussef Daves
On the 24th of april sees the release of a joint album from guitarist and composer, Tom Misch, and drummer Yussef Dayes. Both men are musicians, but are often zijstapjes to other genres of music. For their new single, Nightrider, they make use of the help of rapper Freddie Gibbs. Very easy and very summery.
On the YouTube channel of Tom, it is Appropriate to place the last time, the so-called Quarantine Sessions, which he has in his bedroom, the beautiful covers, will be playing in his signature guitar style. Below is a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Laura Marling
Last week, tipten, the new album from Laura Marling. This week it returns in a list, with a Tiny Desk at Home Gig.
In The Streets, & Tame Impala.
In a normal world, which we were on last weekend with friends for old times ‘ sake, go to a concert of The Streets in Rotterdam are gone. His debut album, Original Pirate Material is a classic, that’s a lot of good memories. This week, there appeared, suddenly as a new song on The Streets with none other than Kevin Parker in a guest role. It’s not brilliant, is good, but still entertaining, especially the video clip.
The Big Thief
A recent favorite of ours was the band’s Big, it has two sides. In 2019, the band released 2 albums both of which are fantastic as well. Recently popped the tape in their archives and pulled out some of the songs that were included in the sessions for both albums. The Demos Are Full. 1 – Topanga Canyon, CA – Oct in 2018, contains 5 tracks, including 3 never-before-been-released-and 2, in one of the other versions heard on the debut album of singer Adrianne Lenker.
Bandcamp lets you buy the cd, stream it, or buy it for $ 5. The proceeds will go to the crew and the band helps the while on tour, and now because of the COVID-19 at home.
Lido Pimienta
Lido Pimienta is a Canadian-Colombian-singer, classical and South American genres, let it melt, and with today’s music. You should be able to say that she is the Colombian answer to Rosalía’s. Her new album, Miss Colombia, is full of summery music with a message. She takes topics such as racism and imperialism have to be cut in the music. Allows you to immerse yourself in the magical world.
Jamie xx
After a long pause, had this week: Jamie xx from the us. His new single, Idontknow, shows a surprising sound, with plenty of room for a busy percussion, but just when you think it’s all too much of a good thing, it is all on a stroke of genius on the spot. It could just as easily have been a huge hit in the summer can be.
Talking Heads
Finally, it is also a great link to a fantastic concert film Stop Making Sense is on YouTube. The director, Jonathan Demme filmed the band Talking Heads, is one of the most creative and brilliant periods in the winter. The result is one of the best concertfilms ever. Not new, but it does something at least once in your life is a must.
