Rintje Ritsma has spent the last three years and have more stability in his life, but shortly after he retired from speed skating, the Fries are sometimes periods during which there was very little of his agenda. The four-time world champion all-round saw that he was lamlendig of it.
“The free time in between jobs seems like fun, because you can fill them up with your hobbies. But it’s going to be bored. Depressed, I wasn’t, but it is serious looking,” said the 49-year-old Ritsma in the interview with Dutch tv-guide Veronica.
Ritsma was halted in 2008, ice-skating, and knew that it was important for him to stay active. “I really need to learn what I was supposed to pick it up. And when I have a week of experience, it is also great for a day on the couch to hang out. Or, for a whole morning, in your nest, like some of the people who would like to do that.”
