Richard Carapaz in his home country of Ecuador and a hero’s welcome after his stage win in the Tour de France. The 26-year-old Carapaz put down on Monday after a flight from italy, the home of his team, Movistar, feet on the street in Quito, ecuador, eight days after his unexpected triumph at the Giro d’italia.
Upon arrival at the international airport Mariscal Sucre, where the fire engines of the aircraft, with a waterboog welcome, got Carapaz in an open bus. Some of the dozens of bikers escorted the cycling hero will be given subsequently, while in the bus, through the streets was held. On the side were the thousands of Ecuadorians, with the flags Carapaz to be happy.
Richard Carapaz won the last year’s Giro with two stages and wore the pink leader’s jersey from the fifteenth stage. He has held the coveted shirt in the city, with the backdrop of the 21st and final stage.
The Ecuadorian climber from Movistar, is only the second South American runner to the hall of fame of the Tour de France. Only the Colombian, Nairo Quintana, winner of the 2014 went up to him.
