The Est Ott Tänak (Toyota) has Sunday the Rally of Portugal to his name, which is the seventh round of the season in the WRC championship. In Portugal took Tänak the work of our fellow countryman Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and recorded as his third victory of the season, after Sweden and Chile, and the ninth in his career. In the CHAMPIONSHIP mode he approaches to within two points of Sébastien Ogier (Citroën). Neuville is third, with ten points less than the leader.
The only moment of excitement Sunday morning there was the spin of Kris Meeke in the penultimate klassementsrit. Meeke got just as caught up in his own cloud of dust and lost in addition to 17.4 seconds on stage winner Neuville also his second place to the Belgian. A spider for our fellow countryman, a difference of seven world CHAMPIONSHIP points in his favor meant for Neuville could be so in extremis even move from the third to the second place.
The venom of the Rally of Portugal was in the tail. During the powerstage crashed Greensmith (Ford Fiesta WRC), after the jump at Fafe. Then did Kris Meeke same in the final stage. The Brit was on Sunday morning two costly mistakes: first he lost his second place to Neuville and then disappeared Meeke from the rally which no points could be scored for the world cup at the manufacturers.
The final powerstage by the crashes of Greensmith and Meeke twice to shut down. Ogier drove the fastest lap time, good for five additional world CHAMPIONSHIP points. Thierry Neuville drove the second time, good for four points. Tänak seemed on the way to the fastest time, but went in the slotmeters of the gas. A tactical move which Ogier the powerstage won and thanks to five points from the powerstage to the guidance and therefore about two weeks in Sardinia as the first on the track and the road needs sweeping.
