There is a smell to the the popular Moco Museum in Amsterdam, discovered The Volkskrant. The authenticity of various works in question.

The Moco Museum (in full the Modern Contemporary Museum) is housed for three years in a villa on the Amsterdam Museumplein, where the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum.

Despite that strong competition makes the museum very well: last year there were 550.000 visitors on the floor, making the Moco itself does a better job than, for example, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.

The commercial set private museum for modern and contemporary art came at the initiative of the two Amsterdam galleries (The Gallery) and works with loaned pieces from collectors. They are proud to work to be able to show of Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali and Keith Haring, but the museum doesn’t seem to closely with the rules of the museum world, according to research by The Volkskrant.

So would the authenticity of one of the works of Herring (a chalk drawing of which a lot of fakes in circulation) in question. Also the only work of art of Jean-Michel Basquiat where the Moco with it turns out, is not by the artist himself made. It is a silkscreen that ‘to’ a painting of jean-michel Basquiat is made, years after his death.

The eighty works by Banksy that have been there since the opening will be presented to hang in there against the wishes of the British street artist, that the Moco for that reason, on his website, also on a black list.
