Outgoing Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a government before the deadline, in the night between Wednesday and Thursday ended. The parliament, the Knesset, has self-dissolved, so there are new elections coming up on the 17th of september.

The Likoed-party of Netanyahu (69) won the april elections, but did not receive a new coalition around. It is the first in the history of Israel that there are two times in a few months elections.

For the past six weeks were the negotiations with the potential partners to be particularly difficult. Former defense minister Avigdor Lieberman of the nationalist Yisrael Beitenu, ultra-orthodox parties became a subject matter not even. Lieberman wants that young ultra-orthodox men, their contribution to the Israeli army.

Likoed captured on 9 april, 35 of the 120 seats in the Knesset. The parliament dissolved itself, with 74 against 45 votes. By that dissolution avoids Netanyahu, president Reuven Rivlin, a formatieopdracht indicates a political opponent.

“We will win, we will win and the people will win’, assured Netanyahu. He will be this summer’s longest serving Israeli prime minister.
