Jelena Ostapenko (WTA 39) is Tuesday eliminated in the first round of Roland Garros. The Latvian lost with 6-4 and 7-6 (7/4) of the belarusian Viktoria Azarenka (WTA 43).

Ostapenko won in 2017 on its twentieth surprisingly the title in Paris. A year later, she had to, just like at her first participation in 2016, after a round opkrassen. That destiny she has also now lived.

Victoria Azarenka, winner of the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, must now prepare for a duel with the world’s number 1 Naomi Osaka. The Japanese must still be passed by the Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (WTA 90).

Zverev must be more than four hours of toil

Alexander Zverev (ATP 5) has on Tuesday placed for the second round of Roland Garros. The German got the qualification against the Australian John Millman (ATP 56), however, is not a gift.

Only after four hours and eight minutes was the 7-6 (7/4), 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 (5/7) and 6-3 final score on the scoreboard from Court Philippe-Chatrier. In his next match Zverev compared to the Swedish qualifier Elias Ymer (ATP 115).

The 22-year-old German took last year, at his third participation at the main table, the quarter-finals in Paris. Last weekend he showed his gravelvorm by the title to address in Geneva, good for his eleventh of the tournament.

Del Potro takes first hurdle

Juan Martin del Potro (ATP 9) has Tuesday not to be surprised in the first round of Roland Garros. The 30-year-old Argentinian, the eighth seed, knocked off the Chileen Nicolas Jarry (ATP 58) 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4.

Del Potro, last year’s semi-finalist, takes the now against the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (ATP 72) or the American Mackenzie McDonald (ATP 66).
