The first surprise on the women’s tournament of Roland Garros was Sunday soon a fact. The German Angelique Kerber (WTA 5), former number one of the world, lost after barely one hour and fourteen minutes of tennis her duel in the first round of the barely eighteen-year-old Russian Anastastia Potapova (WTA 81). It was 6-4 and 6-2.
Roland Garros is for the 31-year-old Kerber never her favorite tournament. Her best result was a place in the quarter-finals, in 2012 and 2018. This year jogged the German with an ankle injury and wanted to advance the expectations as low as possible.
For Potapova is her first participation at Roland Garros. The Russian teenager will find in the second round, the winner of the duel between the Chinese Yafan Wang (WTA 57) and the Czech Marketa Vondrousova (WTA 38).
Later in the day with Alison Van Uytvanck and David Goffin two compatriots in action at Roland Garros.
