On the highest mountain of Germany, the Zugspitze (2.962 meter), six metres of snow measured. That has the German weather service DWD reported. It is the first time in twenty years that in the month of may is still so much snow on the ground.

The last time that the cape of the six metres this time of the year was reached, it was on 23 may 1999. Then it was a wonderland of 6.10 metres is measured. DWD does not think that the amount of snow on the mountain in the coming days will increase still further.

The absolute sneeuwrecord on the Zugspitze is 7,80 meters.
