Former Ajax-player Frits Soetekouw is Friday died. The defender, captain of the Amsterdammers in the legendary mistwedstrijd against Liverpool in the sixties, is eighty years old.
Soetekouw began his career in 1961 at The Volewijckers in Amsterdam. After a year at Heracles Almelo, he was signed in 1964 a contract with Ajax, which he in 1966 and 1967, the championship title conquered.
In december 1966, it experienced Soetekouw one of the highlights of his career. The born in Amsterdam, was the captain of Ajax in the famous mistwedstrijd against Liverpool in the second round of the Europe Cup I.
