The White-Russian Victoria Azarenka (WTA 67) and the Spanish titelverdedigster Garbine Muguruza (WTA 19) play Sunday in the final of the WTA tournament in the Mexican Monterrey (hard/ $ 250,000).
Muguruza did Saturday for the final places for the Slovak Magdalena Rybarikova (WTA 71) with 6-2 and 6-3 to beat. In the other semi-final went the German topreekshoofd Angelique Kerber (WTA 5) 6-4, 4-6 and 6-1 down against Victoria Azarenka. Kerber was Friday too strong for Kirsten Flipkens in the quarter-finals.
The 25-year-old Muguruza picked up last year in Monterrey, her only tournament of 2018. The Spanish is aiming for a seventh WTA tour title in her eleventh final. The 29-year-old Azarenka can, in her 37th final a 21st trophy conquer on the WTA circuit. It would be the first since 2016 and since they are at the end of that year became a mother.
