The U.s. Senate has on Thursday approved the nomination by president Donald Trump of William Barr to the new minister of Justice. He follows the last year and thanked Jeff Sessions.
The 68-year-old Barr is the successor of Jeff Sessions, who at the end of last year by Trump and the avenue was issued. Since then led Matt Whitaker acting to the ministry.
That is in the spotlight because of the investigation that the special prosecutor Robert Mueller to the Russia affair. That revolves around the possible Russian interference in the presidential elections of 2016 and possible ‘collusion’ with the campaign-Trump.
The vote in the Senate was mostly along party lines, with most Republicans the ” yes “is said to Barr, and most Democrats “no”.
Barr, a lawyer by training, had been minister of Justice under president George H. W. Bush.
