Eight employees of the Brazilian mygroup Vale on Friday remanded in custody in connection with the ‘hundreds’ of cases of ‘murder’ at the break of a dam of Vale at the end of January in Brumadinho.
Among the detainees, whose identity is not disclosed, two directors and four managers of the technical teams for the safety of the dam of the mine in Córrego do Feijao stood, as did the public prosecutor of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais in the communication.
These employees were for thirty days in remand “on the basis of well-founded reasons’ as to their responsibility in hundreds of cases of murder with aggravating circumstances”, explained the public prosecutor’s office, which also includes environmental violations, and false statements.
The police also made searches and confiscated some documents related to four employees of the German company TÜV SÜD, that in september the stability of the dam certified. It is going to be a director, a manager and two staff members of the technical department of the company.
By the dambreuk came to 13 million cubic metres of mud with residues that are all annihilated over a distance of about ten kilometres. In the latest interim balance sheet, it took the disaster of January 25, 166 people’s lives, while still 147 people missing.
Vale-ceo, Fabio Schvartsman find that the group was not penalised for the accident. Vale is the world’s largest group in the mining of iron ore.
