Diego Simeone has his contract with Atlético Madrid extended by two years. That left the Spanish club Wednesday on its website. The Argentine trainer region in 2011, down at the club and now continues until 2022.
The success coach did with Atlético Madrid 2014 La Liga win in 2013, the Copa del Rey in 2012 and 2018, the Europa League. For the first time placed the club six years in a row for the Champions League, which twice reached the finals (2014, 2016). This season, Atlético are provisionally third in the Spanish league, seven points of leader Barcelona. In the Champions League is the Trophy the following week in the eighth-finals against Juventus.
The 49-year-old Simeone stated very happy with the extension: “I look forward with great excitement to the future and the many challenges that come, I see people who want to work, who want to continue to grow. I see hope, I see youth. All these things ensure that we continue to progress as a club.”
