The opening stage of the Tour of Colombia, a team time trial of 14 kilometers in and around Medellin, on Tuesday, won by the American EF Education First. Rigoberto Uran came after 15 minutes and seven seconds as the first across the finish line and the thuisrijder may as the first leader’s jersey to wear. World champion team time trial Deceuninck – Quick Step finished second, seven seconds. Team Sky finished two seconds slower.
Rigoberto Uran, Taylor Phinney, Daniel Felipe Martinez, Lawson Craddock, Alex Howes and Nathan Brown were the six of EF Education First Pro Cycling Team that has the fastest round in the Colombian Medellin could take it. With an average speed of 55,568 miles per hour, they were seven seconds faster than Deceuninck – Quick Step. The Belgian team consisted of Bob Jungels, Julian Alaphilippe, Iljo Keisse, Petr Vakoc, José Alvaro Hodeg and Maximiliano Richeze.
Two seconds slower than Deceuninck – Quick Step was the Team Sky of Chris Froome (and, inter alia, Sebastian Henao and Egan Bernal). For Chris Froome it is his first race of the season. Movistar with Nairo Quintana already gave 43 seconds at EF Education First Pro Cycling Team.
Wednesday than 150,5 km with departure and finish line in La Ceja. Along the way there are five climbs of the fourth category. The Tour of Colombia ends on Sunday. Last year won the Colombian Egan Bernal (Sky) the first edition.
