Niels Destadsbader the big winner of the MIA’s

Thursday night was Niels Destadsbader the big winner of the Music Industry Awards (MIA’s) and he took a whopping five awards to take home. The popular singer could have been nominations cashing in the categories ‘Album’, ‘Folk’, ‘Pop’, ‘Solo man’ and ‘Flemish popular’.
Singer Angèle followed the row of three MIA’s for’Breakthrough’, ‘Artwork’ and ‘Solo female’. Niels Destadsbader and Angèle each had seven nominations to their name.

Who won the MIA for ‘Hit Of The Year’ in the wait? That coveted prize went to the BAND feat. Geike Arnaert with ‘Zoutelande’. They brought their big hit live on stage at the MIA’s.

The public could vote for their favourite in the categories ‘Album’, ‘Alternative’, ‘Dance’, ‘Breakthrough’, ‘Group’, ‘Folk’, ‘Pop’, ‘Solo female’, the ‘Solo man’, ‘Urban’, ‘Flemish popular’ and ‘Hit Of The Year’. The music industry decided who the “GENIUS” in the categories of ‘Artwork’, ‘Author/Composer’, ‘Live act’, ‘Musician’ and ‘music Video’ took home. The MIA’s were presented at a grand show on One, live from the Palais 12 in Brussels.

With Angèle and Tamino was young talent rewarded. Tamino went home with the MIA ‘Alternative’. He is the first artist of The new generation of Studio Brussel that an award should take. Lost Frequencies (Felix De Laet) redeemed for the fourth time in a row the MIA for ‘Dance’. The ‘Urban’award, which last year for the first time it was issued, went to the Tourist LeMC.
