The Flemish Association of Journalists (VVJ) supports VTM in full in the defence against the procedure that the public prosecutor of Antwerp, has started to the broadcast of the program “Cold Case” to prevent it. That says national secretary Pol Deltour. “What the public prosecutor of Antwerp is doing is particularly dangerous. It comes down to censorship”, it sounds.
The public prosecutor of Antwerp served Wednesday a unilateral application to the court of first instance in Brussels with the question of the program “Cold Case” on tv for the time being not to transmit. The first episode, about the murder of Sally Van Hecke, Thursday night planned. The president of the court has, according to the public prosecutor decides that all parties will be heard in a proceeding for summary judgment.
“We support VTM in full in the defense of that procedure,” says Deltour. “What the public prosecutor of Antwerp is doing is particularly dangerous. It comes down to censorship. The claim of justice itself and not from, for example, a person concerned in the matter.” Moreover, an ex parte application, he finds “not done”.
The national secretary of the VVJ stresses, finally, that it was “absurd to now there is urgency to call about something that is more than twenty years in the closet”.
