Kristoffer Halvorsen (Sky) wins the final stage, team-mate Dylan Van Baarle is eindlaureaat

The Norwegian Kristoffer Halvorsen (Sky) Sunday, the fifth and last stage in the Herald Sun Tour (2.1) won. His Dutch team-mate Dylan van Baarle took the overall victory in Australia.

Halvorsen showed himself to be the best after a stage about 89,1 km with start and arrival in Melbourne. The 22-year-old Norwegian remained in a bunch sprint, the New Zealander Dion Smith (Mitchelton-Scott) and the Australian Brenton Jones (Korda Menth Real Estate).

The Dutchman Dylan van Baarle (Sky), who on Saturday led the race conquered, was ninth and crowning itself the winner. He has in the final 24 seconds ahead of the Australian, Nick Schultz (Mitchelton-Scott). The Canadian Michael Woods (EF Education First) ends when third at 1:52.

The Herald Sun Tour was this year at the 66th edition. There were no Belgians at the start. The 26-year-old Van Baarle follows on the hall of fame the Colombian Esteban Chaves.
