With the national strike on 13 February, the VRT will be discontinued. That says GCPS secretary Wies Descheemaeker. “A strike notice was filed.”
What form the strike will take and to what extent viewers and listeners will be affected by the action is not yet clear. “Therefore we consult this week with the other unions,” says Descheemaeker. “We call on you to strike.”
The strike action is motivated by solidarity with the private sector. But the loonoverleg also has consequences for the negotiations on the wages of the contractors at the VRT, says the secretary.
The national trade unions called last week Tuesday for a national strike on February 13, after the loonoverleg in the private sector had failed. The unions find 0.8 percent additional pay on top of the index for the next two years is insufficient. The employers adhere to the law, which provides that the maximum margin.
