‘MAMMA MIA!’ took place on 6 april 1999 in the world premiere on London’s West End. The show runs there still, and reached worldwide over 60 million visitors. In 2008, the film version of ‘MAMMA MIA! The Movie’ in premiere and in July of this year the sequel to ‘MAMMA MIA! Here we go again’. In 2019 celebrates ‘MAMMA MIA!’ the musical its 20th anniversary in the London West End.
‘MAMMA MIA!’ in Flanders is produced by Deep Bridge, in the Flemish language, with permission of Music Theatre International (Europe) and Auteursbureau ALMO. The show is a completely new version which is, of course, with the greatest respect for the original and in close cooperation with the licensors will be made.
‘MAMMA MIA!’ combines the greatest hits of ABBA with a humorous love story about a single mother Donna and her daughter Sophie, who is about to marry. Sophie would love to be given away by her real father, but it is not easy to discover who that is… She wants to get an answer to her question, and invites, therefore, three former lovers of her mother on Greek island where they live. Donna is surprised by the reunion with the men and is suddenly face its vibrant past. Together with her friends gets Donna memories of the past, of old loves and their time as the zangtrio Donna and the dynamos. All the well known ABBA hits to pass the revue, including ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, ‘Super Trouper’ and of course ‘Mamma Mia’.
The show plays try-outs in Ethias Theater from February 22, 2020 and continues on march 7, 2020 premiered in Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen. Tickets will be on sale through www.deepbridge.be and www.teleticketservice.be .
The global hit “MAMMA MIA!” comes in 2020 to Flanders! The first names of the full Flemish – cast set, we are happy for: Tinne Oltmans is Sophie, Ann Van den Broeck as mama Donna ‘care’ about Tin. The direction is in the hands of Stany Crets, Ad van Dijk is responsible as music supervisor and Laurent Flament is responsible for the choreography.
From 22 February, Flanders can dance again on the biggest ABBA hits in Ethias Theater Hasselt and Theatre Antwerp.
Cast: the first names
To Ann Van den Broeck should now be referred to as real musical royalty: after an impressive career and leading roles in (inter)national productions, was the choice for the role of Donna quickly made. Tinne Oltmans, the hugely popular musical all-rounder, was at the general public known as Mila Santiago in ‘Ghost Rockers’, but she was early bitten by the musical bug. After the ‘Zoo of Life’ and ‘Sleeping beauty’ it is now high time for a starring role in an international performance. Stany Crets, the last years for the successful Flemish versions of Broadway and West End titles. ‘Evita’ and ‘The Rocky Horror Show ” were the most recent, soon he may return to work with ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot,’ and he takes ‘La Cage Aux Folles’ on their hands.
