The Flemish director Gilles Coulier, the director of the televisiereeksen ‘day’, ‘Bevergem’ and the feature film ‘Cargo’, sits in the director’s chair for the first four episodes of the eight-part British-French dramareeks ‘War of the Worlds’. In addition Coulier is also David Williamson (The day) associated with the project. It reports the Flemish Audiovisual Fund.
‘War of the Worlds” is based on the science-fictionklassieker of H. G. Wells. This version has a contemporary European setting and gives a picture of what’s left of humanity on our planet would remain after an alien attack. Howard Overman signed on for the adaptation.
The leading roles are for o.a. “Oscar” Italian Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects, Louder Than Bombs), Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey, The Wife), Léa Drucker (Custody, Les Grands Esprits), Guillaume Gouix (Les Revenants) and Adel Bencherif (Frères Enemis, Un Prophète).
The eight-part British-French co-production, inter alia, in London, Bristol, Paris, the region of Bouillon and the Alps turned. The premiere for the end of 2019 is planned. After the first four episodes Richard Clark (Versailles, Innocent) the passing of the torch of Coulier.
