Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA 52) has on Monday at the expense of Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 55) placed for the second round of the WTA-tournament in the Russian St. Petersburg (hard/823.000 dollar).
Van Uytvanck pulled in two sets on the longest end: 6-2, 6-4 after 1 hour and 20 minutes. Van Uytvanck and Flipkens, who are playing the doubles in St. Petersburg, were for the fourth time opposite each other on the WTA circuit. It is now 2-2.
In the second round, the Belgian number two against the White-Russian fourth seed Aryna Sabalenka (WTA 10), which was free in the first round. Last year knocked Of Uytvanck Sabalenka with 3-6, 6-4 and 6-2 at the WTA-grastoernooi in the Spanish Mallorca, up until now their only mutual confrontation.
Earlier in the day knew Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 148) to secure a ticket for the main table. In the third and final qualifying round took them in three sets with a 6-7 (3/7), 6-4 and 6-2 of the British Katie Boulter (WTA 88).
