Deceuninck – Quick-Step drops with great interest to Argentina for the Vuelta San Juan (2.1), that Sunday start. Because we, after all, the professional debut of one Remco Evenepoel. But there is also the Czech Petr Vakoc, and his comeback is at least as punishment as the debut of the Belgian phenomenon.
For the nearly nineteen-year-old Evenepoel is the first profkoers. The double world champion at junior saves the promises about going to the pros to get started. After the Vuelta, San Juan follows the UAE Tour from 24 February to 2 march. Then the belt comes off and he drives two Flemish races: Nokere Curonian on 20 march and the Bredene, Koksijde Classic on march 22.
Accident with a truck on training
Another notable name in the selection is that of Petr Vakoc. The Czech was twelve months to the side after a truck him in training in South Africa had been hit. His companions Bob Jungels and Laurens De Plus came better from but Vakoc took some serious injuries. He broke some vertebrae and lay a long time in the hospital. The Czech missed the entire season, but after a long rehabilitation, he hopes in 2019 again.
Vakoc comes from very far, as this video proves when he the hospital was allowed to leave and immediately in his rehabilitation, wanted to start:

“I can’t wait to get that bib on to pins”, well-known the 26-year-old Vakoc. “Though I can’t deny that I’m a little nervous because it’s been sixteen months ago that I still agree a price have driven.”
“My personal goals are to take my place in the pack and as soon as possible to get used to the game and the etc. to my teammates, to be able to help. If I can do that, I will take that as a great achievement consider. I look very much forward to this experience.”
