Sony severs ties with R. Kelly

Record label Sony Music breaks with R. Kelly, American r&b singer who has come under heavy fire after allegations of sexual abuse. That message entertainmentmagazine Variety today.

Kelly’s last release on the label was a christmas album in 2016. He has since then, on their own, some of the songs released, probably with the approval of Sony. Earlier this year he announced with a tweet a new album. RCA Records label, under the roof of Sony Music, where Kelly is associated with it, hired the singer in 2012.

Kelly is in the focus of public attention after a documentary on television was broadcast in which women singer betichten of sexual abuse. The singer is already longer suspected of having sexual relationships with underage girls. In 2008 there was a case filed against R. Kelly, because the singer pictures would have made of himself, while he had sex with a girl of 13 years. He then went unpunished.

In the meantime, streamingplatform Apple Music and internet radio Pandora quietly stopped promoting his music and have several artists that through the years have worked with Kelly are excused for that collaboration.
