After the grand cru of 2017, the French film industry last year, half the viewers are drawn in movie theatres outside of France. The decline is, according to connoisseurs, among others, due to devil’s own hand, movies such as “Valérian” by Luc Besson.
Last year was about 40 million film tickets were sold for French productions outside France, a decrease of 52 percent in comparison with last year. The yields are also halved to 237 million euros (-51%). Nevertheless, the French film world still rely on good sales in France, with 77 million of tickets sold.
In 2018 was “Taxi 5” the most popular French film abroad with 2,44 million tickets sold. In terms of revenue was “Le Sens de la fête” by directors Olivier Nakache et Eric Toledano last year was the most successful.
