The Swiss Roger Federer, the current number 3 of the world, Friday for the seventeenth time, is placed for the eighth-finals of the Australian Open in Melbourne. The winner of the past 2 editions of the grand slam tournament pulled out the 6-2, 7-5, and 6-2 against the American Taylor Fritz.

The 37-year-old Federer had 1 hour and 28 minutes to Fritz (21), the number 50 on the WTA-ranking, to beat. Like Federer in Melbourne wins the tournament, he will be the only record holder. “I wanted to start, I knew taylor’s qualities,” he said.
In the eighth-finals will find Federer the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (20), the number 15 of the world.
