About her day, with single and double

“It was a long day, but a satisfying day. It is because of this that I long black sleeve on my right arm wear. For the recovery. I also have an ice-water bath taken. And there follows a massage with Sam (Verslegers: her kiné and condition trainer, ed.). There is, therefore, still not done. (laughs) But I’m satisfied. I have the impression that I will be a better game played than during my first round. I was more aggressive. I served well and hit more winners. I am so happy about my level of play.”

About the problems in the second set against Gasparyan

“Yes, I have back set points to save. It has, however, played well in that second set. It Was too easy in the beginning? It should always goes smoothly for me (laughs). It was, however, not with the fingers in the nose in the first set, but maybe I indeed my energy levels at the beginning of the second set higher. Also not to the score, but the tactical plan continue to run.”

About Madison Keys

“It’s been a year and a half ago that I was against her have played (at the US Open 2017, ed.). She has a good storage and it stores very hard. She is a very good player. Especially during the Grand Slams she is doing excellent. Maybe she moves not as strong, so I will have to try her off balance. Then they are less hard out of it.”

About her first one against Demi Schuurs

“It was pretty fun, actually. Sabalenka, my partner, is someone who is very positive on the track, that for every ball. So we stood with 5-0 behind in the second set and yet she remained in full store. And so we also come back and we’ll have that match eventually in three sets won. Cool.”
