None other than the American rapper DJ Khaled is the latest castlid of ‘Bad Boys For Life”, the third part in the buddy cop franchise, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. That report entertainmentmagazine Variety.
The 43-year-old rapper/dj will be on the set of “Bad Boys for Life” the company of the stars of the franchise; Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Also part of the cast: Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Jacob Scipio, and Paola Nuñez. Joe Pantoliano makes his return as commander Captain Howard. What is the role of Khaled is still unclear.
The recordings are currently underway, under the watchful eye of the Belgian directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The script is of the hand of Peter Craig, who previously to ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ and ‘Transformers’ worked.
The first two buddy cop movies were a financial success, while only the first part good reviews opstreek. The sequel received mostly negative reviews, which may have played a role in the plans for a third film. The script was over the years repeatedly rewritten and passed by multiple screenwriters, such as David Guggenheim, Joe Carnahan and Chris Bremner. The script of the latter was abandoned by Sony approved.
The story revolves around a modern elite unit that collides with the ‘anciens’ (Smith and Lawrence), while a new threat presents itself in the big city of Miami. The film is released on 17 January 2020 premiered in the US.
