Personal drama: AA Gent-goalkeeper Yannick Thoelen loses daughter two hours after birth

AA Gent-goalkeeper Yannick Thoelen (28) and partner Kim Vandoninck were Tuesday morning struck by a personal tragedy. Their baby, a girl, the name Lia”, was born prematurely and died two hours later. That made the keeper of the Buffalo itself known through Instagram, then space and time to ask for the drama to process. “Lia has already a huge place in our hearts.”

Thoelen, who previously for KV Mechelen, Fraternity Geel and Lommel SK played since the season 2015/2016 goalkeeper in the first division AA Gent. Due to the departure of a competitor Lovre Kalinic, he was just before the turn of the year first goalkeeper.

This morning about 7u20 was our little princess Lia Thoelen already in our arms. Such a strong vechtertje but much too early on this earth have come. They krijste agree well, showed us her feet itch, put her tongue out to us, took with her tiny but oh-so-perfect hands to our fingers and we hoped that this time, forever could last. The incredibly short time that we could spend, were the most beautiful two hours of our entire life. Impossible we can ever express in words how much pain do this and how we like to see her. We will always be the proud mummy and daddy of our little girl. We thank everyone in advance for the support and the sweet words, but we did like the space and time given to this process, and hopefully one day be in a position to give. Lia has already a huge place in our hearts.
