The Czech Petra Kvitova (WTA 8) Saturday in the WTA tournament in Sydney (hardcourt/823.000) credited to her name. Kvitova, the fifth seed, beat in the final of the Australian Ashleigh Barty (WTA 15) after two hours and 21 minutes of tennis in three sets (1-6, 7-5 and 7-6 (7/3)).
It is for the 28-year-old Kvitova, the 26th WTA title of her career. The Czech, two-time Wimbledonkampioene (2011 and 2014), won the tournament in Sydney earlier in 2015.
For the 22-year-old Barty is the second defeat in the final in Sydney in a row. Last year she lost the final battle of the German Angelique Kerber. On its honorary list are provisionally three WTA titles (Kuala Lumpur 2017, Nottingham 2018 and the B-Masters in Zhuhai 2018).
ATP Sydney. The Minaur joins veteran Seppi in the final
The Australian Alex De Minaur (ATP 29) is the second finalist at the ATP tournament in Sydney (hardcourt/527.880 dollar). The nineteen-year-old De Minaur, the fifth seed, earlier, in the semi-final battle after about one and a half hours of tennis in two sets (6-3 and 6-2) with the Frenchman Gilles Simon (ATP 31), the fourth seed. The semi-finals by the rain later than expected finished.
In the final wait for the Australian a confrontation with the 34-year-old Italian Andreas Seppi (ATP 37), the eighth seed. He defeated in his semi-final battle, the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (ATP 19) 7-6 (7/3), 6-4.
The Minaur can in his own country for his first ATP title win. He lost last year in the final in Sydney and later that year in Washington.
Seppi vying for a fourth ATP title in his ninth final. Previously prevailed he in Eastbourne (2011), Belgrade (2012) and Moscow (2012).
