Kimmer Coppejans and Ysaline Bonaventure have Thursday placed for the third and final qualifying round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP 241) obtained Kimmer Coppejans (ATP 216) in three sets. It was 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3 after 1 hour and 57 minutes of tennis. It was the first mutual duel between the 24-year-old Coppejans and the 19-year-old Davidovich Fokina, that in 2017 the juniorentoernooi of Wimbledon won.
Coppejans will play for a place on the main table against the Japanese Go Soeda (ATP 212) or the Italian Stefano Travaglia (ATP 139). In the first preliminary round had Coppejans in a Belgian tête-à-tête Ruben Bemelmans (ATP 116) reports with 7-5 and 6-4.
Kimmer Coppejans took one more time the main table of a grand slam tournament. In 2015, he was at Roland Garros in the first round gewipt by the Frenchman Nicolas Mahut.
Smooth victory Ysaline Bonaventure
The women placed Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 158) also for the third and final round in the qualifications. Bonaventure won in the second round of the Australian mrs. sint Cabrera (WTA 234) in 2 sets: 6-4 and 6-3. The party lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes. Bonaventure plays to a ticket for the main table against the Dutch Richel Hogenkamp (WTA 168).
