“The Best of Dorien B.”, the feature debut by Anke Blondé, has been selected for the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), January 23 to February 3 runs, as has the Flemish Audiovisual Fund announced. The comic drama with Kim Snauwaert and Jelle De Beule in the lead roles will be in Rotterdam at the world premiere and open the Big Screen Competition.
“The Best of Dorien B.” is about a woman who has everything to be happy (a successful husband, two adorable children and a veterinary practice full of small pets), but begins to doubt when her parents caught on to many years of adultery and her husband is very close with a colleague, reports the VAF. Protagonists Kim Snauwaert and Jelle De Beule make their debut on the big screen. Important supporting roles are for Katelijne Verbeke, Wine Dierickx, and Dirk van Dijck. Kinepolis Film Distribution brings the film in september of this year in the Belgian screens.
Also “Driver” by Kenneth Mercken, “From far it’s standing still” by Eva van Tongeren and “A Punk Daydream” by Jimmy Hendrickx will be at the film festival. These three films and “The Best of Dorien B.” received support from the VAF/film fund. In addition, in Rotterdam, a number of co-productions with Flanders will be screened, including the documentary “Transnistra” (Clin d’oeil films as Flemish partner) and “Another Day of Life” (co-produced by Walking The Dog).
