Tottenham Hotspur knew Friday without a lot of fixed powers, a trouble-free evening in the third round of the FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers (0-7), but that kept Mauricio Pochettino not striker Harry Kane to drop. The coach did that out of respect for the vierdedivisionist.
“It’s great for the fans here for Harry Kane in action. He is an icon in England, and not everyone gets the chance to see him play,” said Pochettino of his switch to Prenton Park in conversation with the BBC.
“Harry is always in every race and I thought it important to show respect to the people here by giving him a quarter of playing time. It was a beautiful moment for everyone who was present.”
