“Beautiful Boy” is the English language debut of Van Groeningen who previously had success with “The Broken Circle Breakdown” and “The misfortunates”. The film is about a journalist, David Sheff (role of Steve Carell) who discovers that his talented teenage son Nic (Timothée Chalamet) is struggling with a drug addiction. David decides to do everything to make his son understand and save. “Beautiful Boy” tells the true story of an unconditional love between a father and his son.
At the beginning of december last year, the film was already nominated for a Golden Globe. These are the awards that are granted by the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in recognition of excellence in film and television. The annual presentation is part of the American prijzenseizoen, culminating in the Academy Awards, called “Oscars”.
