The Jury for Ethical Practices in advertising (JEP) has six complaints received about the promotion of Proximus in the One series ‘Over Water’. That was heard at the reclamewaakhond, that nothing should be said about the identity or status of the complainants.
Last week expressed organisations that deal with drug prevention do criticism on that commercial, before and after the fiction series about cocaine in the port of Antwerp on Sunday night’s broadcast. Together with the Proximus logo appears with the phrase, “Enjoy together the weekly dose of action”, where the letters seem to be soaked up. Under more Tom Evenepoel of the Association for Alcohol and Other Drug problems (VAD) complained in The Newspaper that this drug normalizes.
The JEP has after receiving the complaints, a file is opened. “As with other files, the advertiser invited to comment, and the case is then submitted to the jury that a decision”, tells a JEP-employee Wednesday. The most complaints followed, according to the JEP after the media attention for the advertising spot.
The jury will have the case file on the first meeting after the christmas holidays, on Tuesday, January 8, discuss. The jury may decide not to comment, because he is the advertising according to eight with the legal and self-regulatory provisions. Judge the jury that the provisions are violated, he may decide on the discontinuation or modification of the advertising.
