Serena Williams wins for comeback in Hopman Cup, but the United States lose from Greece

Serena Williams (WTA 16) Monday at the Hopman Cup in Perth, the Greek Maria Sakkari (WTA 41) with a 7-6 (7/3) 6-2 defeated. It was for the American 23-fold grandslamkampioene the first match since the lost final of the US Open in september.

The victory of Williams did not, however, for the USA for the duel with Greece to win. Earlier in the day went on Frances Tiafoe (ATP 39) 6-3, 6-7 (3/7) 6-3 down against Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 39). In the doubles had Williams and Tiafoe 1-4, 4-1 and 4-2 of their several recognise in their Greek opponents.

Tuesday the American duo are in group B re-against title holder Switzerland. Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic won the match Sunday with 3-0 Great Britain (Cameron Norrie/Katie Boulter). The British took the Saturday with 2-1 by Greece.
