Netflix and co have to contribute to Flemish productions

Netflix, Amazon and other streaming services, from 1 January 2019 financial contributions to the production of Flemish films and tv series. So far, they had not, while they are becoming stronger competitors for kabeldistributeurs such as Telenet and Proximus, each year a little more than 1.3 euros per subscriber to invest in Flemish fiction.

Concrete get streaming services with an annual turnover of 500,000 euros or more the choice: either they must directly in Flemish series and movies to invest in, or deposit them an amount to the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF).

In that latter case, it goes to 2 percent of the sales of the second year preceding the year of the bijdrageplicht. Make the streaming services not on time which formula they choose, then they are required to have € 3 million to be deposited in the VAF.
