The pictures were magical for Lin-Manuel Miranda
Actor and singer Lin-Manuel Miranda was very happy to do his own action scenes for Mary Poppins Returns to do because he dreamed of as a child stuntman. The Hamilton creator portrays lampionaansteker Jack opposite Emily Blunt as the new Mary Poppins in the sequel to the classic from 1964, with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in the lead role, and Lin-Manuel could not wait to get his various stunts during the shooting in London.
In the American show Good Morning America, he makes jokes about his stuntvaardigheden: “I think that Jason Statham sleep well, knowing that I am not for his job come, but I got all kinds of stunts to do that I would otherwise never have done.
Except that his stuntdromen ended, says Lin-Manuel that the whole Disney production magic to the touch, thanks to the attention to detail from director Rob Marshall. “Every day was magical…..I can’t tell you how surreal it was. One day you will dance with the penguins and the next day you will dance with Meryl Streep, and the next day you can ride on the bike on the driveway of Buckingham Palace, which is just insane”.
Mary Poppins Returns, with Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw, and a guest appearance by Dick van Dyke is from this week in the theatres.
