The Norwegian parliament has as the first country in the world, a ban approved on biofuels based on palm oil.
Palm oil is responsible for deforestation, environmental pollution and the expropriation of certain tribes. Therefore, it is heavily controversial. The ban will take effect from January 2020.
In 2017 peaked the use of palm oil in Norway. The country has a heavy emphasis on eliminating fossil fuels in the transport sector. After 2025 all vehicles in Norway are electric.
