Just like the Belgian ‘Girl’ is also the Dutch entry for the Academy Awards no longer in the running for an Oscar. ‘Banker of the Resistance’ is not on the shortlist with the ten candidates for best non-English film.
The film by Joram Lürsen, was in their own country, good for five Golden Calves, including those for best film and the audience award. Barry Atsma and Jacob Derwig play in the movie Walraven and Gijs van Hall, who in the Second world War through an underground bank the resistance of millions of Dutch guilders helped.
The Academy today announced the pre-selection known from the 87 movies that were submitted for the Oscar for best foreign film. Productions that still have a chance to be on 22 January nominated for an Oscar, come from Colombia, Denmark, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Mexico, South Korea and Poland. The Polish submission Cold War was last weekend named the best European film.
Also the Belgian film ‘Girl’ from director Lukas Dhondt will no longer qualify for an Oscar. That hit last night is already known.
All Oscar nominees will be on January 22 and published on 24 February, the award ceremony is scheduled.
