“That race I had a few moments,” acknowledges Stengs. The 19-year-old winger made on October 31, they celebrated his comeback in the main body of AZ, during the bekerduel with VVV-Venlo (2-0). Afterwards, he played in competition still 176 minutes spread over three games. Tonight, at home against Excelsior, start the promising talent once again in the basis.
“I’m fine, feel good. Overall I’m satisfied about the game that I after long injuries, I was able to show. And if you look at the speelminuten I have for the winter break already, I was able to make, then I may not complain. It tastes like more.”
Earlier this week it was announced that coach John van den Brom, the man who Stengs in 2017, showed, days, summer, leaves in AZ. “We were Monday at the dining table when it was told. On the one hand, I am sorry that he is leaving. On the other hand he has here five very good years. That is long not for everyone.”
A current assistant-trainer Arne Slot replaces Van den Brom as head coach. Just like many of the other players is also Stengs excited about that choice. “He can make things to convey to us and has a lot of good ideas about game situations and things of that nature.”
