Meryem of Reber Dosky and Jos de Putter has been nominated for best short film. Meryem is the head of the Kurdish fighters in Northern Syria that IS trying to expel from Kobani. Reber Dosky follows her during her battle.
The Belgian-Dutch film Girl is nominated as best European film. The leading actor and dancer Victor Pad has the nomination for best actor to tackle. The debut film of director and screenwriter Lukas Dhont is about fifteen-year-old Lara (Victor Pad), who wants to make it as a ballerina. But her body does not cooperate, because she is born as a boy. Girl went on 12 may in Cannes premiere and has already won several awards.
The 31st European Film Awards with the announcement of the winners takes place on Saturday 15 december in Seville.
Won last year Brimstone director, Martin Koolhoven, about a demonic priest (Guy Pearce) who is an innocent girl has coined, a European Film Award.
