Jodie Foster has confirmed that she is acting in an English-language remake of the Icelandic Oscars entry Woman at War. The Silence of the Lambs star plays the lead role of Halla, portrayed in the original by Halldora Geirharosdottir. It’s about a music teacher of middle age who is in the secret of her time spent as a fierce natuurbeschermster and outlaw, until she is forced to her way of life to change when her application to be an adoptive mother to be is approved.
The two-time Oscarwinnares also gets behind the camera for a thriller that her fifth speelfilmproject as a director. “On this project, I am very pleased,” says Jodie against Deadline. “I am so excited to be a new American version of this is relevant, beautiful, inspiring story.”
Foster is planning to make the storyline move from Iceland to the American West. They can not wait to get into Halla’s shoes.
“The character of Halla is a warrior for the planet, a strong woman that everything in the game turn to do the right thing. But not without a serious accidents on the road,” she continues.

Iceland nominated Woman at War, known as Kona fer I strid, as a submission for the Oscars 2019 in the category Best non-English Film. The finalists for this category will be in January. The Oscars will be presented on February 24.
