Goalkeeper FC Volendam breaks cheekbone and eye socket

Mitchel Michaelis is battered on a stretcher.

With a blood-stained face went Michaelis by stretcher from the field. Further investigation in the hospital revealed that he has a broken cheekbone and a broken eye socket has been damaged.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper from Den Helder have surgery on the cheekbone to undergo. How long he is out of the rotation will be, is not yet known.

Nordin Baker replaced Michaelis against FC Twente. The 21-year-old keeper made his debut in the beginning of FC Volendam. Earlier this season became the province of Noord-Holland eerstedivisieclub even though goalkeeper Jordi Stappershoef for a longer period of time lost due to a concussion, that in september he suffered in the lost duel with Jong PSV (1-0). He is now on the way back.
