“The tireless and ever amazing voice she sings for decades, those unforgettable songs that is so in our collective memory”, according to the jury. “Willeke is a real artist with a rich musical repertoire. She breathes music, to experience ’life as a song”, as she often calls it.”
The jury praises her warm personality and community involvement, including her Willeke Alberti Foundation. “This year it will be exactly sixty years ago that she made her first image recorded, Tell Daddy I Wanted to Ask You (1958), a duet with her father, Willy. There is no better time than now to the TrosKompas Oeuvre Award at this Grande Dame of Dutch music.”
Previous winners of the TrosKompas Oeuvre Award were René Froger, Peter Koelewijn, George Baker, Jan Smit, Rob de Nijs and Father Abraham.
