The Venezolaan Josef Martinez of Atlanta is Wednesday voted best player of the year, or MVP, in the American Major League Soccer (MLS). His team mate Miguel Almiron was second, the Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic of LA Galaxy third.
The 25-year-old Martinez was 47,93 percent of the votes behind his name. Almiron followed at a good distance with the 15,03% of the votes, Ibrahimovic had to do with 11,60 percent. Another former star of Manchester United, Wayne Rooney (DC United), was fourth with 7,80 per cent.
Ibrahimovic was last month called up Rookie of the Year elected and he made the most beautiful goal.
Since Martinez last season, the Italian Torino left for Atlanta, he made it less than 50 goals in 54 games. This season, he spent the doelpuntenrecord of the MLS on December 31, and there follows a competition. Atlanta takes over the Saturday in the final of the MLS against Portland.
