WILLEMSTAD – Former prime minister Gerrit Schotte of Curaçao is Wednesday morning (local time) locked in the Curaçao prison. Dozens of supporters were in a mars trip for him to support.
Tuesday was the already imposed punishment of Schotte final. The High Council in The Hague ruled when Schotte and his partner Cicely van der Dijs rightly be condemned because of official corruption and money laundering. Also the sentences imposed were confirmed: three years in prison for Schotte and fifteen months, of which a half a year conditionally, for Van der Dijs.
Schotte in 2010 was the first prime minister of Curaçao. He was in the court of cassation has gone against the judgment of the court of appeal because he only had money raised for his party, MFF.
