Tonight makes the French voetbalmagazine France Football known who Cristiano Ronaldo follow, as the winner of the Ballon d’or, the world’s most prestigious individual voetbalprijs. Red Devils Thibaut Courtois, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard are among the thirty nominees. The gala evening will be hosted by former French international David Ginola.
Hazard is listed as one of the outsiders for the Golden Ball. He will get competition from, among others, the Brazilian Neymar (PSG), the Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), the Argentine Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona), the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), the French world champions Kylian Mbappé (PSG) and Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid) and the Croatian Luka Modric (Real Madrid).
That last will be according to Hazard this year’s Ballon d’or win. “I do not think of the Golden Ball, because I will not win”, let the Red Devil in October again. “Modric deserves it. There are three or four favorites, but Modric will win. That would be a crowning achievement for his fantastic season.”

For the first time will also have a Golden Ball for women be granted. The brand new Kopa Trophy awarded to the best player under 21 years of age, Mbappé is the absolute favourite in this category.
