Wim Lybaert is Wednesday night in La Brugeoise in Bruges elected as West-Flemish ambassador. It is the first time that the title will be awarded. The election was organised by the province of West-Vlaanderen, Radio 2, Focus-WTV, and the Newspaper of West Flanders.
The past weeks went, the organisers looking forward to the first ambassador of West-Flanders. A list of 25 names was eventually shortened to ten names, including Wannes Cappelle, Wim Opbrouck, Sandra Bekkari, Yves Lampaert, Emma Meesseman, Emma Plasschaert, and thus also to Wim Lybaert. He eventually came up the winner out of the bus and received a diploma from the hands of Flemish minister Hilde Crevits (CD&V).
Lybaert was at the forefront of Focus TV in 1993 and, afterwards, a lot of television work. This year he went for One half around Europe with his ‘Columbus’. Lybaert is native of bruges. “And I will, perhaps, remain forever. I do not here road,” he said.
