Margaret Atwood, author of “The Handmaid’s Tale” will write a sequel to her bestseller from 1985. Reports that Atwood is on Facebook.
By the eponymous series created by the streaming service Hulu, there is renewed interest in the book of Margaret Atwood.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale ” is set in a dystopian near future where the birth rate has fallen drastically. In the society women have no rights. The few fertile women are forced to bear children.
The sequel, titled ‘The Testaments’ will get, will fifteen years after the end of the first book play. Three women get in the word and continue in on the story of the first book.
‘Everything I have ever asked about Gilead and how the country operates, is the inspiration for this book’, says Margaret Atwood. “The rest of my inspiration comes from the society in which we live now.’
The new book has no link with the television series. The second and third season follow their own story, as written by the tv producers.
